Botox®
Used to smooth out frown lines, crow's feet and forehead wrinkles, Botox, an FDA approved medication, is given as tiny injections into the muscles of the face resulting in dramatic reduction in facial wrinkles and fine lines. Injections take only minutes and typically last for 3–6 months.
Dysport
Dysport, like Botox, is an injectable form of boutulinum toxin Type A. It blocks the transmission from the nerve to the muscle and, voila, no more wrinkles! Its actions and side effects are similar to Botox. Both are neuromuscular blocking agents. Dysport has been used to treat wrinkles and some medical conditions in Europe since the early 1900s, and was just recently approved in the United States by the FDA.
Dysport and Botox have similar modes of action and similar side effects. The injections are made in the same locations. Dysport is said to have a more rapid onset of action and possibly last a little longer.
